Whether with grimacing faces
or smiling kindly, pretty
ads keep picking up their paces
with each most tiresome ditty
At first glance perhaps peachy
to-long-for warm beachy
then in voice-over screechy
pushy, ‘buy now!’ preachy
Come-on pitches shrill
right in our face
If not by ill will
rarely knows grace
Clearly ads have no qualm
shattering others calm?
Annoyed in silence we sulk
with feeling have been offended
Perhaps glad at chance to skulk
mope in victimhood pretended?
Feel we’re not being treated right?
What if we are?! Here’s what ought unnerve:
imagine how severe our plight
if receive what we rightly deserve
when we’re lashing out at every ‘offense’
in thin-skinned, callow, ego-fueled pretense!

victimhood = the kind that declares that “if I feel like a victim then I am a victim”
Erstwhile restraint all gone
guts soft, hearts hardened
Attempting every con
foul fallout pardoned
Society’s strands frayed
way beyond hope of repair
From empathy’s path strayed
face down in ditch of despair
Sunk in our armchair
‘thinking’ now as the herd
Watching the fanfare
until our vision blurred
Been living sardined
soon dying demeaned

In all around us collapse
humans best at our worst
In reoccurring relapse
a Species sadly cursed
Our worst foot forward
acting when not knowing
Drifting back shoreward
‘progress’ never slowing
Watch our denial glisten
as we refuse to listen!
We had even planned on expansion
but no longer making the grade
Since lost our overblown McMansion
now dwell in ‘hovel’ without maid
Reality, not erstwhile charades,
humiliating and novel
Tumbling hard in Free Market cascades
spoiled lives crashed now have to grovel
No longer fine china afternoon tea
got dumped hard into Actuality

Efforts effete about the climate
and growing inequality
while for a neo-Nazi Heimat
abounds power and polity
about endless warfare
ever pushing containment
From our comfy armchairs
such splendid entertainment
Empire’s proud minions cruel
hardened hearts steeped in myth
splash in consumer cesspool
Unease gnaws on our pith …
… when reduced to watch the next wildfire
and the nuclear race on high wire
With riches ill gotten
they now claim entitled hots
(ethics best forgotten)
for more mansions, art & yachts
While the poor ‘ill begotten’
have most essential hots
for meals less thin & rotten
and to sleep on clean cots
On each poor the rich make but a penny
but it adds up because they’re so many
Planet like a stressed canine
shall shake itself of fleas
now in self-defense hard line
throwing off Human sleaze
With our fallacies
covetousness
enduring envies
loquaciousness
Restraint we’re sadly lacking
barely perspicacious
We rush, push, seldom slacking
way too efficacious
We keep battling amongst each other
with ferrous fangs & jagged jaws
while united against Earth Mother
Aren’t we Universe’s outlaws?!
Salivating salaciously
our species vexatiously
keeps gobbling up voraciously
defecates ungraciously
I’m since long overdue to resign
to join a species that is benign!
In selfish times when facts downplayed
marked by superficiality
when indulgence knows not delay
we seek virtual reality
Must be found swift & easy
to be entertaining
as well snappy & breezy
If not too constraining
Not only just exasperating
but a culture alienating

by the global tellurian
compellingly endemic
along the coast Ligurian.
High pitched its roar
Panda 4×4.
Shifter on floor
road hugging rapport.
Tire squealing curves vertiginous
wind through hilly cream cake plethora.
Binge worth cake shops indigenous
caloric boxes of pandora.
A swift driving stalk
brings a sweet cake walk.
