No need knock mediocrity

When was the most recent time
looking in a mirror
that whistles blew, bells would chime
when viewed ourself clearer?

For in its reflection
on close inspection
we shan’t see perfection
or mass affection

So what, in creation’s aviary
few get to sing like a canary
therefore being a bird ordinary
might perhaps prove most salutary?

So let us trudge along
gulping mega fudge
trying hum freedom’s song:
‘Mustn’t ourselves begrudge!’

while mired in deep despair
not going anywhere

Over diverse diets
getting ourselves mesmerized
Emotions run riots
by repeat failure chastised

Such is life in consumer cultures
where nothing is ‘overdoing’
while life as insatiable vultures
clearly assures our undoing

Takes so much more for us to lose weight
than by what we don’t serve on our plate

sprightly slighted ecology
chaotic chronology
they offer no apology

Wasted to first search out facts
in world narcissistic
merely declare what attracts
with quips jingoistic!

While objecting to their reporting
is found culturally unsporting.

This morning found a lady bug
floating in my grapefruit juice
In place of a ‘so what?’ mere shrug
were hoping work out a truce:

If I do not place my drink
right below her flight path
she’s promises to rethink
where next takes her juice bath

But where’s the app with the math
that predicts a bug’s flight path?
