To express oneself by stanza
ain’t (as some may try purport)
just merely extravaganza
but provides structure, support
Easy to wax expansive in Prose
while virtuously pithy Verse
for Prose to pontificate verbose
while quatrain must read quaintly terse!
Try verse, if we must sound off at all
at least keeps the format brief & small
Ingen i ringen slog till bättre då
tyckte en gröngöling grabb som såg på
Ingo: En snitsig urstark en
till sin sista svett droppe
Tills jag såg han i folkparken
hade tänkt skaffa moppe
Så i stället för en moped
skaffade racercykel
för Ingo visste ju besked
utan larv eller hyckel:
Att inte kan man hålla sej i form
i 50 cubik tvåtakts rök å gorm!

-i folkparken = i Göteborg när jag var grabb
-Ingo = Ingemar ‘Ingo’ Johansson, en hemstads grabb, blev några år senare världsmästare i tungvikt boxing. (Själv blev jag en tävlingscyclist, som inte alltid kom in sist)
All these zealous stanzas
trying hard to kinda rhyme
No extravaganzas
while they do aspire to chime
Format of quatrain
does steer the verse
shall rarely constrain
when tight & terse
Quatrain can float the trite
but does not need our pity
when soars in pure delight
be it not on wings witty
Från dess början till slut
är livet en strid
Varför vet vi ej hut
mest bråk, sällan frid?
Nja hade Gud en god ide
med vår stackars mänsklighet?
Men det gick ju snabbt helt på sne
för vi saknar hovsamhet
Vi tycks skapa själva vårt lidande
i en malström av gråt å kvidande?
That not so veiled U.S. threat
of militant action
dim term but still Beltway’s pet
while crises gain traction
But aren’t those ‘options’ always
foregone on the table?
Restless warhorses upraise
to bolt from the stable:
Galloping for regime change
as Empire’s fables derange!
Hur det kännes att trängta
efter att kunna uttrycka
Hur det kännes att längta
efter att kunna samtycka
Våra ord blir bräckliga
om ej från vårt hjärta
sorgligt otillräckliga
ibland alltför bjärta
Undvik ord som högmodigt skramlar
men stöd de som åtminstone famlar
While the grass is thought to be greener
on the other side of the fence
the barking dog there may be meaner
How do such fantasies make sense?
The Human Race is in dire distress
because we constantly want more
Always way too willing to aggress
so we can further up our score
Mired in constant complaint
as we know not constraint
‘The Orange Ego Coddler’
in policy incoherent
A vainglorious toddler
The ‘Stable Genius’ despot
ignorant & feckless
How he spouts without respite
a Demagogue reckless!
He untiringly trumps up ‘tantrumps’
amidst golf at casino sanctums

Words swooping in screeching flocks
on rash repeated raids
whether aiming to flummox
darting out from deep shades
May seem fetching while hollow
coming across inane
Glib, quick, too hard to follow
they know not of restrain
Verbiage self-promotional
insincerely emotional
MSM’s faux storytelling
& Wall Street’s greedy windfall
hasten Empire’s unraveling
tripping us into free fall
The violence visited upon
the outer edges of the Realm
has come home resoundingly foregone
regardless of who’s at the helm
Harsh havoc caused on those ‘small countries grungy’
snapped back in Empire’s face as if by bungee
