Mass media propagandistic
in a nation feudalistic
exaggerates threats terroristic
make us serfs cheer jingoistic
While deeply stirred by populism
we’re held back by cynicism
mightily fearing socialism
truly preferring tourism
When sacking solidarity
we live in barbarity
in punishing polarity
dispatched to disparity
Our cheers ring out chauvinistic
that’s amongst us nativistic
What is there really to vaunt
in a society busted?
Do we really want to flaunt
that we pretend we’ve adjusted?
Are we not more like in ’39
when the propagandized Nazi
thought ‘Im Vaterland ist alles fein!’
In denial we can not see
Now like then not merely inane
we’ve gone absolutely insane
Always blameless
seeks acclaim
He is shameless
grabbing fame
The grotesque Prez of Deception
improvises how he rules
this vain Nation of Exception
Let’s us be scammed feckless fools
Our insight fogged dimmed & courage slipped slim
he gets away with what we allow him

Earthly life is to suffer
impervious to spin
so we have to act tougher
not merely bear & grin
As keeping on wailing
of ‘leaders’ brutal
clearly unavailing
a routine futile
Unless we deal with this raw deal
our life shall remain an ordeal
A scam victim might feel relieved
if felt themself neglected
While sensing they’re being deceived
‘happy’ to be selected?
Greedily they believe
gold of 25 carat!
Easily they perceive
a carnivorous carrot!
Smiles of scammers contrived
cloying, beguiling
Once they got us connived
they turn unsmiling
When unthinkingly we parrot
we may praise that of no merit
“Amazon? Ain’t it cloud nine!”
No, didn’t mean THAT brazen bungle
where billions are spent online
but the Brazilian jungle:
its rain forest desecrated
by deforestation incessant
the planet’s lungs perforated
while humanity stays quiescent!?
Yet another fatality
through consumer rascality
In support tepid but benign
on front lawns still a smatter
of that virtue-signalling sign
that somehow ‘Black Lives Matter’
But are we radically
finally willing attend to
not just sporadically
beyond the yard sign ballyhoo?
Are we committed to follow through
turning around what’s long overdue?
She ate a
much too cheesy
parched pizza
made her queasy
So next she orders out Chinese
As national security risked
with swiftly patriotic ease
gets the delivery person frisked
Here’s foremost what’s at stake:
that the South China Sea
stays an American lake
Surely we all agree?
Our Empire goes to great pains
to protect the world’s sea lanes!
What passes for discourse
in today’s society:
Reverberation coarse
in purloined propriety
Wear our feelings on the sleeve
we do not know subtle
not known to hold back on peeve
brusque in our rebuttal
But even when helpful & kind to confront
must still know not to take personal affront
Images careening off keel
out-of-breath pitches twisted
in frenzied & frantic appeal
Any restraint resisted
Our attention usurped, wrested
in hugely bumped up gumption
Their vapid claims unattested
brought on in slick presumption
These ads of billions of dollars
bring neither rhyme or reason
just keep pouncing in crisp colors
Dance or consumer treason!
When speech & image
vile, while opaque
still pounce & scrimmage:
Time to awake!
