We ‘commune’ by bumper stickers
and by thought-ending cliches
Feebly democracy flickers
in such debased a malaise
Ever sillier, who’d thought?
Uninformed we get out of sync
society’s bonds worn fraught
Civil discourse gone down the sink
Now in anomie mired
entertained on apps agile
In fantasy conspired
reality’s grip fragile
But what a way to go
when wishing not to know!
After having captured Government
Big Business criminogenic
in stealthy coup of empowerment
ethics withered cryogenic
Erstwhile Earnest Citizen
turned Craven Consumer
Now Fantasy’s Denizen
selfish in ill humor
So now we’ve been trumped
back to Poor Serfs bumped

The clueless White House ambit
emanates from Empire’s
odoriferous armpit:
Absurd acts of ‘high wire’
This (must we not suppose) is:
National psychosis
with full free fall prognosis
by brashest hypnosis
Trump aggrandizes
fantasizes
He tantalizes
scandalizes
Done with can’t-help-himself flair
brazen cruelty laid bare
Nation’s strength faded
politics corroding
consumers jaded
Deny it’s imploding
While ‘debate’ mired mindless
still roars contentious
in pervasive blandness
madly pretentious
Clinging to the Empire notion
slapping on more burnout lotion
‘The Orange Ego Coddler’
in policy incoherent
A vainglorious toddler
The ‘Stable Genius’ despot
ignorant & feckless
How he spouts without respite
a Demagogue reckless!
He untiringly trumps up ‘tantrumps’
amidst golf at casino sanctums

& Wall Street’s greedy windfall
hasten Empire’s unraveling

The violence visited upon
the outer edges of the Realm
has come home resoundingly foregone
regardless of who’s at the helm
Harsh havoc caused on those ‘small countries grungy’
snapped back in Empire’s face as if by bungee
With scant knowledge of history
some of us lack perspective
allows the Elite’s sophistry
to provide slant deflective
Media gives space generous
for each crisis made to seem
unforeseen, sui generis
as per Power Elite’s scheme
covering up by spin in profusion
failing that with a ‘pretend solution’
At first they were both derided
for appearing quite misguided
Off to such weak start
both Trump & Bush
mere blips on the charts
Then without blush …
… they chose (absent all qualms)
path precedential
which: Drop missiles & bombs
get ‘Presidential’!
Patriots are now deferential
of their new leaders quintessential!
Yet another rant
of Trumpler cant
with profligate slant
Admirers chant!
While many a sycophant
(be they scammed, ignorant)
growing ever truculent
Of hope indifferent …
… as the Trampling Orange Elephant
a mere Dabbling, Deranged Dilettante!
His looks sallow carotene
that shamelessly lying brawler
a sick psyche philistine
in pursuit of that next dollar
Utterly Orwellian
but that’s not by far all
a shameless chameleon
with heart and hands too small
Still those who got him elected
feel elated not dejected
