Of pride an overdose
dense, too bellicose?
but would be grandiose
to try diagnose
Trying to philosophize
on the meaning of existence
is a frill that ossifies
best focus on co-existence
Try just belong
let’s not be headstrong
“To Get Along”
ought be our theme song
Listen closer to bird song
until our common swan song
May a crackling fire roaringly warm our chilled hearts
thaw our icicles of brittle self absorption.
A gallant gale scatter the heavy thoughts
howling through the dank caves of our darkness.
A brisk river douse our seething anger
firmly sweep it out onto the calm sea.
A gentle swell cradle our gnawing fears.
A hot summer sun dry our soggy soul.
May we not toss in anxiety and constraint
but float lightly in the restful peace of restraint.
A tree will grow
almost anywhere
perfectly slow.
Of what, whom aware?
We cannot you or me
thrive between boulders.
Lacking unlike the tree
patience, behold hers!
By Nature’s fashion bedight
chilled or damp shade endures
as well in blinding sunlight
stoically inures.
Imperceptibly stretches
the tree shall persevere.
On faintest skyline etches
foliage crystal clear.
While trees shiver in still silence
humans rage in chain saw violence.
in the contemporary
promptly pillaging the Planet
for ends pecuniary
Under lame pretext of Progress
while fouling our Species’ Nest
with Technology we obsess
betraying Those Coming Next
But those of us simply not aware
surely can’t be expected to care?!

Fall’s last leaf quivers
in duty most steadfast
in chilled winds shivers
determined to outlast
The last leaf on the branch
to past Summer hanging true
A rousing rear guard stance
or just blind loyalty’s glue?
When loses its gallant grip
last one to abandon ship!
Our son had to evacuate in the recent CA wildfires
No polite little hint
or mere nudge effete
Open your eyes, don’t squint:
Fistful of browbeat!
The wildfire
its scorching flames
deadly, dire
steady its aims
Soon shall burn again
not wise to remain
Planet like a stressed canine
shall shake itself of fleas
now in self-defense hard line
throwing off Human sleaze
With our fallacies
covetousness
enduring envies
loquaciousness
Restraint we’re sadly lacking
barely perspicacious
We rush, push, seldom slacking
way too efficacious
We keep battling amongst each other
with ferrous fangs & jagged jaws
while united against Earth Mother
Aren’t we Universe’s outlaws?!
Salivating salaciously
our species vexatiously
keeps gobbling up voraciously
defecates ungraciously
I’m since long overdue to resign
to join a species that is benign!
Conceited urban cowards
prefer to eat meat & prattle
They won’t holler like cowherds
or ponder the lives of cattle
They lack heart for battle
unless for their steak
Their God-ordained chattel
thus being at stake!
They chew on the road of least resistance
with no thought to cows’ dead end existence
Hark, sounds of leaves cerise
from nearby trees downed
dance and scrape in caprice
blown low off the ground
Fall’s cooling wind
caresses my cheek
through trees now thinned
my forlorn tears streak
While watched Summer fade heavyheartedly
shall now relish Autumn tender-heartedly
Each morning fresh verse
incites my daily pace
For better or worse
each day another race:
A day that blithely sings
not one that mires mopingly
Its welcoming gate swings
fully open copingly
May our days be filled with grace
like flowers brimming their vase
