Some ‘swamp’ dwellers gone
most often forthwith fired
but replaced with (yawn!)
folks even less desired
Despite long time since spoken
the ‘swamp’ remains un-drained
another promise broken
Check replacements harebrained:
How morally disheveled
those retrograde refills
ethically bedeviled
on corruption’s treadmills
The Prez keeps clomping
on a cringing world stage
Trumping & whomping
trapped in fantasy’s cage
How he bombastically mirrors
the nation turned sneerers & smearers
Our stinginess with language
as we gush emojis, cliches
ought it not augment anguish
over a deepening malaise?
Won’t we see how incurious
how mired in inanity
we’re when spouting claims spurious
in know-it-all vanity?
Ain’t it easily perceptional
that we’re nowhere near exceptional?
O, how smugly incurious
in our vapid vanity
when facts we declare spurious
clinging to inanity!
Smooth snappiness in language
emojis, tropes, cliches
Cannot conceal our anguish
of deepening malaise:
such as we’re The Nation Exceptional
always indistinctly conceptional
Efforts effete about the climate
and growing inequality
while for a neo-Nazi Heimat
abounds power and polity
about endless warfare
ever pushing containment
From our comfy armchairs
such splendid entertainment
Empire’s proud minions cruel
hardened hearts steeped in myth
splash in consumer cesspool
Unease gnaws on our pith …
… when reduced to watch the next wildfire
and the nuclear race on high wire
With riches ill gotten
they now claim entitled hots
(ethics best forgotten)
for more mansions, art & yachts
While the poor ‘ill begotten’
have most essential hots
for meals less thin & rotten
and to sleep on clean cots
On each poor the rich make but a penny
but it adds up because they’re so many
Planet like a stressed canine
shall shake itself of fleas
now in self-defense hard line
throwing off Human sleaze
With our fallacies
covetousness
enduring envies
loquaciousness
Restraint we’re sadly lacking
barely perspicacious
We rush, push, seldom slacking
way too efficacious
We keep battling amongst each other
with ferrous fangs & jagged jaws
while united against Earth Mother
Aren’t we Universe’s outlaws?!
Salivating salaciously
our species vexatiously
keeps gobbling up voraciously
defecates ungraciously
I’m since long overdue to resign
to join a species that is benign!
President Trump flagitious
merely the latest shoot
on Empire’s bush pernicious:
One more brazen galoot
Of The Exceptional Nation
the repeated tired narration
Walking Life’s path
more or less fulfilled
by Life’s own math
attitudes instilled
Passions few & unwilled
our ambitions mild
ruled by those iron-willed
who have us beguiled
Throughout ages people altruistic
been pushed around by those agonistic

A United States President
who did not bully or patronize
Against Empire’s precedent
to never slightly try empathize
They’ll never squander an enemy
or dare upgrade one to frenemy!

We’ve watched a variety
of impropriety
in dazzling dubiety
and insobriety
For too many years pretended
we were ruled by Meritocracy
which emphatically ended
Now saddled with Kakistocracy
who shall never be appeased
or moved by entreaty
they just leer at us displeased
as were we graffiti
In these times cruelly stern
all while right on we churn
the rich take what we should earn
And we lack guts to learn!
Kakistocrats never get placated
none of their demands ever vacated
