Dare to question Tech Perfection
beyond granted latitude
and we’ll face instant rejection
thus won’t change Tech’s attitude
Our misgivings of Technology
is not to slander and belie
It shows signs of own pathology
fever chart racing up awry
Why do we march, lockstep with spring
obeying each ring & flash?
How long let brash gadgets go ‘ting’
while draining our cards of cash?
Just as long as we allow it
feed the Beast and we’ll endow it!
Our stinginess with language
as we gush emojis, cliches
ought it not augment anguish
over a deepening malaise?
Won’t we see how incurious
how mired in inanity
we’re when spouting claims spurious
in know-it-all vanity?
Ain’t it easily perceptional
that we’re nowhere near exceptional?
O, how smugly incurious
in our vapid vanity
when facts we declare spurious
clinging to inanity!
Smooth snappiness in language
emojis, tropes, cliches
Cannot conceal our anguish
of deepening malaise:
such as we’re The Nation Exceptional
always indistinctly conceptional
Gushing over ‘high society’
in such slack-jawed stupefaction?
Finding its crass impropriety
a never ceasing attraction?
Reading about celebs of means
(chauffeured in their limousines)
in check-out counter magazines?
If amusing, by all means!
But is it long term fulfilling
that what it might be instilling?
While us mediocrities much maligned
viewed as hapless maidens dowry-less
humans see matters clearer when sidelined
uninvested, as well powerless
What presumption of the Power Elite
skewed sense of selves & cluelessly effete!
Aren’t words fading of meaning
in to something we just utter
to buttress our keen preening
we spread them thickly like butter?
With screens abound who needs pedagogy
when we have all pictures & emoji?
Silly vanity
of ignorance willful
and inanity
of ineptness skillful
When we’re selecting words on how they sound
then how wouldn’t sentences get out of bounds?
That facts be scientific
how plain laughably quaint
boring & soporific
quash them by faith’s feint!
When of own notions reverential
of logic we must be wary
make truth & fairness nonessential
Our wishes must reign primary!
Not to worry, never mind
science couldn’t be wronger!
There’s insight of higher kind:
Faith unhinged is stronger!
Polluting & depleting
we’re fouling our own nest!
A planet overheating
but hey, we’re on a quest!
Whether by plain obliviousness
narcissistic dereliction
or shackled by lasciviousness
must end with species eviction
Yeah but, won’t our mindlessness be excused
as we’re by snappy ‘yeah but’ quips bemused?

In sweet voices lilted
while vocabulary wilts
communing gets jilted
very language itself tilts
Why is it presumed painful
in case word-flow slows to standstill
to ‘conversation’ baneful
when cliches pile on as ‘word fill’?
Mutter not in soliloquy!
Select words which dance ballet
most willingly and willowy!
Shun words when served as buffet:
Insist instead to see the full menu
or you shall be cast as the ingenue
Commendable inaction
laissez-faire distraction
both strong tools of exaction
holding our attraction
Why striving for Reality
when in Fantasy dissolutely
we can spout off hyperbole
ducking resistance resolutely
In these times of eroding erudition
just adjusting ‘Reality’ definition
